Splish, Splash!

Well, it has been a busy couple of weeks!  We were lucky to have some beautiful, almost 60 degree, weather last week!  It was sooo nice, but being a Vermonter I knew it wouldn't last.  We were able to enjoy lots of time outside and go on at least one walk a day, which was such a wonderful change of pace!  Unfortunately, it hasn't lasted, but it is nice to know that sort of weather is right around the corner!

Miles may not look so thrilled in this photo, but he does love to go for walks.  He hardly falls asleep anymore on our walks and is so alert taking in all of the sights.  This photo was taken by aunt Jamie one of the days she and my mom watched him.

A week later was St. Patrick's day.  Miles went to Moo-ma's (yes Moo-ma, it's a long story).  The shirt he is wearing says "I'm a McCutie" I just could resist it when I saw it in the store!

It was such a beautiful day on St. Patty's day that Miles hung outside enjoying the fresh air and some sunshine.  Moo-ma and Jamie put a tarp and blanket down and brought out his exersaucer.  He had a great time.

Not only was Miles lucky enough to hang with Aunt Jamie and Moo-ma all day, but he had a very special visitor, little Miss Ava Savoy and Linda Mc.

Ava was so sweet to Miles it was adorable.  Apparently she has been talking about him ever since.

Last Friday Miles went for his first swim!  We had an idea that it might go well considering how much he loves bath time.  At the child care center we have him enrolled in (or as Ann calls it, the baby spa) each classroom has a day when they go swimming in the pool at the gym (which is in the front of the building).  His class goes on Fridays and even though he does not attend school on Fridays, providing Dylan goes with him he is able to go swimming at no extra charge.  Dylan's friend Sara was in town and was able to go with him, which was so great because she was able to take some video and pictures of the whole event.

Most of the time he just floated around, hangin' out.  He did, however, go under water for the first time!

He did so great, other than a little flailing around he didn't make a peep!

I am so proud of my little boy!  I can't wait to hear about tomorrow's swimming adventure!

As always I will leave you with a couple choice photos from the past two weeks.  Take care!

Miles has been doing great eating his food, he has started to enjoy pears, along with his first love...applesauce!

We were able to get together with Great-Grandpa Russell a couple weeks ago for lunch, always so fun to see the two of them together!

Much love to you all!!!!

Long time no update!

Okay, I know, I know, for the two people who read this they have been waiting for an update for a while.  I am so sorry it has been so long.  The usual excuses follow, we've been so busy, I don't know where the time goes, and oh yeah, we were all quite sick for a little while there.  Anyway, here is a "quick" update letting you know what we have been up to for the last...almost month.

About a month ago we lost someone who is very dear to my heart and I would be remiss if I did not recognize him in this blog.  Jamie and I have known him as Grampy, many others knew him as Merwin.  He was a large part of our life when we were children and was still very dear to us as we grew older.  I am happy to say that he was able to meet Miles before he passed away, something I will forever be thankful for.  Grampy, we will miss you, but we will remember you fondly forever.

We also celebrated a big birthday, Dad turned 60!  We had a nice lunch (mom made pot roast, yum!)  My uncle Ross came up for lunch and we had a great time visiting and eating.  Dad enjoyed his birthday gift...

a new computer monitor...well he enjoyed it for about a day or so and then returned it.  He decided to buy himself a new laptop instead.

Anyway, we had a great time spending time with family and relaxing, just enjoying being together.

We did get slammed with another snow storm over my school break, it was wonderful, wet, and heavy snow.  It was warm enough to bring Miles outside for a bit.  I wish I could know what he is thinking here.

Later that week Miles and I travelled down to Cornwall, VT for a baby shower.  This is Dylan's cousin's wife Marci.  She is due to have her baby at the end of March.  We can't wait to see if Miles is going to have a little boy cousin or a little girl cousin!  I was so proud of him that day, he was so happy the whole time we were there, just as content as could be.

Oh yeah, look whose sitting up now!  Miles just perfected this in the last two weeks or so!  I can't believe his is sitting up on his own now!  Another milestone passed and he is eager to move on to the next one!  I think he'll be crawling soon!  Then we will have our work cut out for us!

I had to post this photo, my uncle Stuart sent Miles up a nice box of stuff a few month ago and he finally fits into this little Texas Rangers onesie,  it was so cute on I had to take a picture!  There is a little set of booties and a bib that goes with it.  I think, however, Miles will be a Red Sox fan.  Maybe he will root for the Rangers when they aren't playing the Sox!  In a couple years we'll be putting him in the Cowboys t-shirt Stu sent up...

This past weekend Miles had another play date with his friend Ella (we were in birthing class with her parents).  We had a great time getting together with them, it had been a while.  It was so wonderful to see the changes that Ella has gone through, and was even better to have conversations with other adults who are going through the same things we are.

Miles and Ella chewed on toys (got to love teething), grabbed each other where ever they could reach, and thankfully took a short nap so we could have quality adult time.  Miles was a gentleman and let Ella sleep in his crib (her first time in a crib) while he decided to have a bottle and just sleep in his highchair.

Ella also got some practice in Miles' jumpy seat.  She loved playing in it.

And the last picture I have to show of our little date is so cute and hilarious!  (Ann and Bannon I hope you don't mind me posting this picture)  We all joked that Ella would probably be using this look for many years to come....

Oh, what a little cutie pie!

So that has been our last month or so...  I will leave you as I usually do with some of our recent precious photos...enjoy!  I promise to post sooner than later!

Here is Miles, captivated by is mobile....who knew some computer printouts, card board, and some paint could be so amazing!

Bronson and Miles are strengthening their bond...

And last but not least, Miles after his favorite time of the day....bath time!

Take care, love to you all!

Mmmmm, avocado!

I know, I know...it has been a very long time since my last post.  My apologies.  We have been busy with everyday life, as well as a sick baby.  Miles came down with a nasty cold, so bad in fact that we had to take him to the doctors a couple weekends ago and they prescribed him an inhaler.  We now are using the inhaler 4 times a day for the next week or two.  He seems to be doing a bit better, but we are looking forward to school vacation so we can try and get him healthy!

In the meantime we have been keeping busy at home, playing with just about every toy Miles has.  He is now putting everything in his mouth, learning about the properties of all the "things" around him.

He loves being read to and has started to reach out for the books as we read them.  Really, he reaches out for everything, my jewelry, hair, Dylan's nose, you name it!

It has to be said that one of his most favorite things in the whole wide world right now is Bronson.  He smiles every time Bronson goes near him, reaching out to grab ahold of what ever is in reach.

We started out slow, trying inch closer and closer to Bronson.  We know that is has to be Bronson coming to Miles to be successful.  Bronson has been doing much better, not as grumpy as he used to be when Miles gets close.  In fact one day Miles and I were on the floor and Bronson wanted in on the action so he came over and laid down in front of us, rolled over onto his belly, and of course Miles just couldn't resist.  Soon enough he was reaching out from Bronson's belly, grabbing fists full of hair.  He just kept pulling his body closer and closer so....

Bronson laid right there, accepting that this would soon be his daily life.  Once Miles begins to crawl Bronson will have no escape!

We also hit another "Milestone" this month...Miles is now in 6 month clothing.  He has gotten so big it is hard to believe.  At his last check up he weighed 14.8 pounds (not 20 Jody!)  I decided, one day while I was rushing through Toys 'R Us, to grab Miles a couple new pair of pj's.  They were 50% off so I just couldn't resist.  I took them home, washed them, and tried a pair on him that night.  I have to tell you that I felt so bad...they were not too big for him AT ALL!  I can't believe that he didn't complain about his 3 month pj's, they must have been pretty uncomfortable!

We are still offering real food to him every now and again, but we aren't convinced that he is quite ready yet.  The other night we offered him one of my favorite foods, avocado.  He actually got quite into it.  He started to pull my finger to his mouth after his first few bites.  He ate quite a bit (well for a baby's first time eating something like that).

Doesn't he look so big in his highchair!!!!

Last weekend my parents and Jamie came over to visit.  Mom and I had a delicious pork loin, dad had a roast beef sandwich, and Jamie hung with Miles while we ate. We had a great time visiting.  At one point Jamie was telling us a story and we could not get over how cute Miles was looking at her while she was talking, like he was so interested in what she was saying!  We all had to laugh, Jamie couldn't look at him until she was done her story.

As usual I will leave you with a few choice photos and I promise not to take this long again to post an update.  Take care and please leave your comments!  Love to all of you!

A Time of Firsts

In the past two weeks Miles has had many firsts... to begin on this long road of firsts, last Friday we went to our favorite place to eat, American Flatbread in Burlington.  For those who have not been there, they make amazing flatbread http://www.americanflatbread.com/.  If you click on the link you can learn about their origin and such.  It was the chosen place for our rehearsal dinner before our wedding, where we said (and we still talk about saying it) "We will order one of everything on the menu please!"  There are not too many times a person gets to say that!

We were excited to bring Miles on his first trip to American Flatbread, a place he will learn to love as he gets older and becomes a pizza-holic like his mommy!!  We didn't realize, however, how excited everyone there was going to be.  I can't tell you how many times someone told us how cute he was....one waitress stopped at our table and said, "Everyone is talking about him, he is soooo cute!!  Everyone keeps saying check out the baby at table 23."  Dylan and I had to laugh, I mean, we think he is the most beautiful thing in the whole wide world, and we know our families feel the same way, but we are all a little partial aren't we?  Well, take a look at what he was wearing, I guess he may have been a little extra cute...

For his next first, Daddy had to put together a little jumper seat, he is ready to move up to super fun stuff, and sitting up is his favorite way to be right now.  It is a little large, but he will be able to do lots of learning and jumping in this contraption!

Miles having a little chat with the frog...

He was able to stay in there for about 10 minutes before he grew tired of it.  The hope is that soon he will be able to stay in there long enough for us to eat dinner!

Another first that happened this evening was Miles' first taste of food, we mixed some rice cereal with breast milk and gave it a shot.  He was able to swallow a little of it, really it was mostly milk!  It was an experience none-the-less!

We know that this is just the first of many more "firsts" to come.  It is so fun to watch Miles experience all of these firsts.  We can't wait for more, but we don't really want them to come too quickly!

Here are some additional photos taken over the last couple weeks.  We are so lucky to have Miles in our lives, he is an amazing child.  When so many are suffering and lives are changing forever I have to take the time to thank the powers that be for looking out for me and my family.  That being said here is some super cuteness for you...

The bathtub is the perfect place to get ahold of his foot and suck on his toe!

Getting him dressed is so much fun, as long as he isn't trying to suck on his toes, it reminds me of when I was little and used to dress up my cabbage patch doll...

Just cuteness!

Bronson is trying to get in on a little bit of tummy time!

Miles has taken such a liking to Bronson, just watching Bronson Miles will start to giggle, it's so funny to watch the two interact.  Mostly it's Bronson's tongue licking Miles' entire head, but Miles is getting in on the action and is starting to grab at Bronson's big ole flappy lips!  Can't wait to see what is going to happen when Miles starts to crawl (well, actually I can wait for the crawling...rolling over is enough right now!).

Below you can find a little comment link.  I encourage anyone who wants to leave a comment to do so, I would love to hear what you have to say after you read our updates!  Until next time!  Love to all of you!

Baby, it's cold outside!!

While Miles sleeps blissfully for the last 2 and a half hours (I'm so lucky!) I am going to try to give a quick update... Not too much has happened in the last week, but we got some great shots of Miles playing with his feet, he has started to suck on his toes, which makes changing a diaper rather challenging!

He is mastering yoga....

and doing aerobics with grampy....

Dylan and I were able to go for a snowshoe with Bronson and his doggie friend Sam while my parents watched Miles for us.  It was a chilly day, just like the rest of the country we had a little cold snap, but we did get to see the sun for the first time in quite a while! We went on the trails at Colchester high school, you could see clear to Burlington, though it was only 15 degrees, the sun felt amazing!

As usual I leave you with a couple of the cute images we captured this week.  Enjoy and Take care!!  Jenny xxoo

Let it Snow...and snow, and snow and....

So....we've gotten about 24 inches of snow and WCAX (our local news station) is saying that we will probably get more in the next 24 hours....YIKES!  Might be a snow day tomorrow for me, can't say that I'll complain, though I won't complain if we don't have a snow day.  Dylan came home from the mountain and took Bronson out to play in the snow.  Bronson loves the snow!

We then had to get Miles decked out in his snow suit to check out the snow.

This one is still a little too big, but I couldn't resist taking a picture of him...

Dylan and Miles are covered in snow because Bronson decided to run right next to them.  Miles got his first taste of snow as it flew into his face.  He wasn't to amused after, but then went down for a delightful little nap after... amazing what fresh air will do!
