Happy Birthday Meme!!!

As I told you all before, Miles, Mooma, Jamie, and I travelled down to North Carolina to visit Meme, Jody, and Dick. I was pretty nervous about the flight, Miles is teething right now, and you just never know how something like a plane ride with a baby is going to go. I knew I didn't want to be that mom with the crying baby on the plane... We left Vermont at 6:00 am, yes 6 am...yes that means I got up at 4:00 and woke my peacefully sleeping baby up at 4:30. He went with it though and didn't seem to mind a bit. We flew into DC (only an hour and 20 minute flight) and then on to Charlotte (another hour and a half). I have to say, Miles did wonderful!!! He slept for a little bit and I must have sang Old McDonald about 10 different times, but we made it! Here is a picture of Miles, can you see Mooma in the background?

That look on his face was basically his mood the entire time...I'm so lucky!

Jody and Dick picked us up at the airport and after hooking up the car seat and shoving all of our luggage and stroller into the car we had about a 2 hour drive from Charlotte to Arden (right outside of Ashville), Miles slept the whole way. When we got there Miles met Meme.

It was so nice out that we had to change him into one of his new summer outfits...what do you think?

Miles went around the outside of the house with Jody and Mooma...

The azaleas are beautiful down there right now, so much color!!!

We went for a nice walk around the neighborhood, Jody and Meme know just about everyone who lives there. It took us a little while to get around once, and we left Mooma behind as she stayed to talk to an older couple who live in the neighborhood.

Miles spent some time with Meme getting his back scratched, I would have liked to trade spots with him, but I think I would have looked a little silly sitting on Meme's lap....

Miles enjoyed it so much, he just sat there looking at her, listening to her voice, he was captivated by Meme.

Meme had a little gift waiting for Miles when we got there. Sorry Papi, you might have a little competition in persuading Miles to a certain basketball team!

The next day was Meme's birthday, 83 years old! We were so excited to be there for her birthday. It had been a long time since any of us had spent her birthday with her. We got her a digital photo frame, my dad loaded about 500 photos on to it, some of the photos go quite a ways back, so far back that my dad has long hair! We enjoyed looking at them, and I hope that Meme has found a good place for the frame and will enjoy looking at the pictures from time to time.

My aunt Leah sent down this beautiful pink sweater, doesn't it look nice on Meme?

We went for a nice walk that day and then relaxed for the better part of the day.

Miles was pretty tuckered out after our walk, he slept so well down there, I couldn't believe it!

We went out to a very nice dinner at an Italian restaurant, I can't remember the name....Pompodoro's (maybe? help Jody) It was very yummy, Miles did great sitting in his highchair, he had only done that one other time until then, he looks so cute sitting up to the table, I love it!

After dinner it was time to head home and relax, we were all full and happy! Miles enjoyed a little more Meme time...

There are our first two days in NC. There will be more to come, I am going to try to spread it out so it is not so overwhelming for anyone, including me! Come back soon for more adventures!!!

Oh yeah, and as a special little surprise for Meme's birthday, Miles figured out how to crawl, yeah you read that right, crawl!!! Check it out! It is only for a couple seconds, but it was his first time ever and now he is going all over the place!!!

A brunch date!

All of you, I'm sure, remember little miss Ella, Miles' sweetheart....

We went down to her house for a brunch with Ann, Bannon, and Ella.  We had a wonderful meal, quiche, potatoes, fruit salad, oh and did I mention the mimosas?  It was so much fun to watch the two little monsters interact.  They are both so incredibly alert and deliberate in their actions.

They were pretty happy to see each other and were very intrigued by one another.  Dylan had a few moments when he got to think about what it would be like to have twins.

There was lots of friendly snuggling...

Followed by a couple of unfriendly touches (of course not intentional)....

Miles whacked Ella in the face (though she didn't even react)  I think it hurt the adults more than Ella!

Ella got Miles back a little later when she kicked him in the face (serves him right for hitting a girl!)  He, however, did react and he wasn't too happy!  He got over it though and they worked it out....

Miles wasn't really sure what to make of Bannon and his bushy beard.  It went much better than last time though, when Miles would cry at the sight of Bannon.

There were a couple of baby pig-piles.  Soo cute!

There was also lots of toy stealing, isn't Miles sooo transfixed on Ella's toy!

Told you they worked it out!  We can't wait until we get together with them again!  I'm not sure I will be able to compete with the deliciousness that is Ann's cooking though!

Wish me luck, Miles, Aunt Jamie, Mooma, and I are off to North Carolina to see Uncle Dick, Aunt Jody, and Meme tomorrow...not sure I could fit anything more into my suitcase right now!  Until next time!  Love to you all!

Still cruizin'....backwards!

We have been enjoying some quality time together, watching Miles grow stronger and stronger.  He is still swimming...

I can't wait, I get to go next Friday!

Miles is still moving backwards, trying so hard to figure out how to go forward.  He ends up moving around to where he wants to get to by doing a cute little baby break-dancing move.  He gets himself into some sticky and cute situations.

Miles helped me make up our grocery list a couple Saturdays ago.  We were buried in flyers!

Miles also got a new book last week....

He had a fun time looking at all of the illustrations, my favorite so far is the penguin, I can't wait until he  can sign that one!

We were lucky enough to get a little visit from Gramma and Papi, they brought us dinner and hung out for a while, it was a nice visit!

Miles has also been practicing his yoga....

He gets into this position pretty frequently, do you think he'll walk before he crawls?  It's certainly possible!

He is pulling himself up, with a little assistance, and then sometime no assistance at all.  What a strong little boy.  Has anyone noticed that in many of these photos Miles has some rosie little cheeks, Miles cut his first tooth a couple weeks ago, that was fun!  We think he is working on his next one, he has been chewing like a mad man again and takes his Tylenol like he knows what it does for him. It is crazy to see a little white thing sticking out from his gum, his bottom left in case anyone was wondering where it is. 

This was sort of a short post, however, I do have another to follow almost immediately.  We had another date with little miss Ella...so fun!  Until then here is a cute little photo to hold you over!  Take care!

Happy Easter!!!

What a weekend we have enjoyed!!  We have had some record breaking, beautiful, sunny, warm weather here!  We got outside as much as we could this weekend!  Here are a few of the things we did!

Saturday we went up to Cambridge to hang out with Grampa Dean, Gramma Ronda, Uncle Nick, Uncle Adam, Great-Gramma Audrey, and Great-Gramma Sarah.  It was Nick's birthday on Friday, he turned 11! Amazing how quickly all those years have already gone by.  Nick was a very lucky boy this year and got an iPod touch from his parents for his birthday, so we had to get him an iTunes gift card.  He spent most of the afternoon playing with his new toy, but who can blame him?

Miles got to have some quality time with his uncles.

Gramma Ronda was very happy to see him.

On Thursday Miles, Dylan, and I took a trip out to Great-Gramma Audrey's house for a visit.  We didn't have the camera, if we did we would have gotten some really cute pics.  This is Audrey's dog, Baxter, as Baxter would walk toward Miles, Miles would giggle away...it was so cute!

We went outside for most of the afternoon, it was about 80 degrees!!!  It was wonderful!  Dylan worked with his dad opening up the camper we are going to use this summer.  Does it remind anyone of anything??

It is in pretty nice condition, maybe needs some new curtains, and a new awning, but otherwise it will be great to go camping in this summer, much easier than tenting with Miles.  When I was a kid the Crosby's had a camper and Amie and I used to have sleep overs in the camper.  Did we ever make it all the way through the night Amie or did we chicken out and go inside?  I remember being really freaked out because of the woods behind our house....spooky!

Here's Nick, guess what he is doing... yep, he is using his iPod touch!

Ronda made some yummy lunch for us, cheese stuffed burgers, homemade mac and cheese, potato salad, and toss salad.  It was soooo good.  And for dessert we had a delicious ice cream cake, also homemade.

After all that Miles and I spent sometime on the ground, it is so cute to see him try to touch the grass, it clearly is not that soft and nice right now, but he is curious about it!  Grampa Dean got down there and hung out with Miles for a bit too!

Easter morning Dylan woke up to find that the Easter Bunny stopped by to drop off some mini-reeses peanut butter eggs.  Dylan is addicted to these things, I had never seen the mini ones before and when I saw them at the grocery store I just couldn't resist.  I thought it would be so fun to put these out for Dylan.  I was right, it was really cute watching him look for them with Miles.

Miles also got his Daddy a card for Easter, promising him Hugs and Kisses all day long!

After Miles took a nap it was off to Mooma's and Grampy's.  Great Uncle Ross was coming up for Easter dinner.  We spent all of our time outside, as it was another AMAZING day again today!

We had to put Miles in his Red Sox onsie, as it is opening day at Fenway today.  Sox verses the Yanks.  GO SOX!!!

Again today we had delicious food.  I made avocado, mango salsa (a friend of ours made it for a get together and I have been thinking about it ever since!) he makes it better, but I didn't do too bad for my first time!  There wasn't much left when all was said and done!  We made shish-kabobs for dinner, not your traditional Easter dinner, but you just couldn't resist grilling today!

Miles enjoyed some time with his Anutie Jamie, as always!

Bronson is also one that has enjoyed this great weekend.  He went up to Cambridge with us and played with Tobe, we thought he would be tuckered out today, but he wouldn't give up his incessant pursuit of the glorious tennis ball.  He is super pooped right now, and will probably not want to go outside to go to the bathroom later!

Miles also got to hang out with his Great Uncle Ross, we don't get to see him often, but it is always nice to see him when we can!

Now we are settling in for a nice quiet (keep you fingers crossed for me) evening.  Ready for another work week...can't wait to see how hopped up on sugar the kids are going to be!  I leave you with a couple select photos from the weekend!  Enjoy!
