Turkey Day...and back to work...

We have had a busy few weeks, so I apologize to those of you who have been checking the blog for updates and have found nothing.  Miles had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  Our friends Vinnie and Melissa came from Colorado for the week.  They had a wonderful time meeting Miles, and he had a wonderful time meeting them.

Bronson was also very happy to see Vinnie and Melissa, it is safe to say that he remembers and misses them...

Melissa and Vinnie bought Miles a little gift while they were here, how cute are these little boots?  You just can't resist the John Deere boots!!!

My parents came over for dinner, we had the classic...turkey, stuffing (and a lot of it), potatoes, squash, green been casserole, and some delicious homemade rolls.  There was so much food, but we ate every bit of it the following week.  We had such a wonderful time, good food, good wine, good friends and family.  We wish we could do it all the time!

The turkey was fresh from Misty Knoll Farms, it was so yummy!!!

Our table was set so nicely, doesn't it look scrumptious!

The week went by so fast, and now I am back to work.  I am glad to be back, but I do miss all of the time I spent with Miles, it doesn't seem like 12 weeks have gone by already.  Miles just had his "2 Month" appointment.  He weighs 12 pounds 11 ounces and is 24 inches long!!!  He is getting so big!!!
Check out the little comparison photos we have....

and Miles at 11 weeks...

it is amazing what can happen in 10 weeks, isn't it!

On Friday Miles had his second date with Ella.  It was so wonderful to see how much more alert they both are.  They were actually aware of each other this time.  We went to her house down in Moretown and had a wonderful dinner and visit with her parents, Ann and Bannon.  We can't wait until they are both a little bit older and can really start interacting!!!

they did snuggle on the couch a little bit, until Miles (who is grabbing on to anything he can get his hands on lately) pulled Ella's hair... I think she forgives him though...no love lost between these two!

Stay tuned for more adventures, we'll be decorating our Christmas tree soon!!!!

Time Flies!!!

Now that our childcare situation has been resolved we have slept a little bit easier.  We were busy getting things together so Miles had everything he needed to start school.  It's amazing what a baby needs and there is always more!  But....before starting school Miles had his first date!

Her name is Ella, isn't she adorable?  We were in the same birthing class as her parents, Ann and Bannon.  They came for dinner and a little play date.  It was so great to talk with people who are going through the same things we are going through.  We can't wait for our next date!  It's hard to believe that Miles is only 8 days older than Ella!!  What a tank!

Then on Saturday the 14th we had a visit from great-anuties Carol and Leah.  He hammed it up for them, boy does he know how to work a crowd!  This was Leah's second visit and Carol's first.  I think it is safe to say she fell instantly in love.

It was great visiting with our aunts, short, but very sweet.

On Monday Miles had his first day of school.  We did decide to go with the center at the fitness center, or as my friend lovingly refers to it, the baby spa...  Here is a pic of his first day of school.

It was so hard dropping him off, I knew it would be difficult, but I didn't realize how hard the strings of my heart would tug when I walked out the door.  His teachers loved him and couldn't believe how happy he was when he woke up.  They were surprised to hear him giggle when he did (it is the cutest thing I have ever heard!).  He went Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday this week.  His teachers said he did great, but didn't sleep much, I told them "Welcome to my world!"  Miles does sleep well at night so I can't complain, but he doesn't sleep too well during the day.  I think he'll get the hang of it once we get into a routine.

Friday was mom's 60th birthday.  We had just what she wanted for dinner, cheeseburgers and orzo!  It was delicious!!  I could have had two burgers!  We had a pumpkin gingerbread trifle for dessert, a recipe I found on the Food Network last year, and never had a the opportunity to use it.  It was very yummy!

We had a wonderful evening.  Mom held it together through all of the sappy cards until...

her first happy birthday Grandma card!!  She started to cry when she read his card, it wasn't intended to be sappy, plus it has a picture of the guys from the "happiest place on Earth".  Who knew!  We had a wonderful evening just hangin' at the house.

Now we are just waiting for Thanksgiving to come around, we are having some very special visitors come for the holiday, we can't wait for them to meet Miles.  I will leave you with the cutest picture we have taken (well maybe not, but you can be the judge!)  Take care!

Nice, quiet, uneventful?

So the last week for the Degree family has been a little crazy.  I am supposed to finish up my maternity leave this week, heading back to work on the 16th, but....the childcare we had set up, fell through.  We were extremely disappointed, especially since we didn't find out about it falling through until late on Friday.  That meant we couldn't do a thing about it until Monday nor could I do anything about work until Monday.  Dylan and I decided to enjoy our weekend regardless.  Miles and I went to a baby shower on Saturday morning.  Of course he was doted on left and right, he was so great there, didn't get fussy at all!  I always cross my fingers (don't want to be the one with a cranky baby at a nice event, ya know?).  The rest of the day was spent relaxing and getting prepped for our big photo shoot the next day.

Here is one outfit we were going to put Miles in for the photos:

Sooo cute, my mom calls him a little lumberjack.

In the end we went with a little hat from our friend Linda and a sweater made by his great-grandma Audrey.

Adorable, right?  We went up to Underhill at Greenmont Farm http://www.greenmontfarms.com/aboutGreenmont.shtml.  It was a beautiful spot that the photographer picked out, apparently he had done some work there for the man that owns the property.  It was a neat little barn.  We were there with Dean, Ronda, Nick, Adam, Dennis, Joanna, and Alyssa.  Our first family photos!  Here is one that Ronda took with her camera, we can't wait to see what Rob (the photographer) took with his camera.

We had a wonderful time and then went to lunch.  It was our first time at a restaurant with Miles, and guess what he did, slept the whole time.  Which was a good thing because we were going to bring a bottle to feed him, dad packed the milk, but forgot to pack the ever important bottle!

On Monday I hit the phone pretty hard looking for a childcare center for Miles.  Dylan had found some numbers on Craig's list, which were promising.  I visited two places on Monday, they were okay, I know  he would be loved there and safe, but they were not places I was totally comfortable with.  After many, many, many phone calls to colleagues, friends, and family I was hooked up with the director at Kids and Fitness in Williston.  They are an extension of the Sports and Fitness Edge (or what used to be known as Racquet's Edge).  They have a great program and turned out they had a part-time spot open up.  I am so excited for Miles to be going there.  It is a little out of my way, well a lot out of my way for work, but what he will gain there makes it all worth it.  He is going to start swimming when he is 6 months old, and as he gets older he will begin dance classes and tennis!  It's all included in his tuition.  My hope is that he will be able to go full-time eventually, but that's a bit more money.  Anyway, we are so happy to have found a spot for Miles where he will learn and grow into the person he is meant to be.  Believe me, I will be sleeping much easier tonight!

The First...of many?

So, my friend Amie has a blog and I have been enjoying looking at her posts and getting to know her again through those posts. Her blog has inspired me to start my own blog...boy blogging is something I have only ever heard about and never thought I would do. But I think it is a great way to keep family and friends updated on our lives, as uneventful as they may be at times. I will do my best to be vigilant in my blogging and not so sporadic that Miles is graduating from preschool with my next post.

So far Miles has enjoyed meeting is VERY large family, and though he still has many more to meet, he has been loved by everyone he has met so far.  He is so adorable it is impossible not to love him.  Miles has also enjoyed his first holiday, Halloween.  Niether of us got dressed up, but Dylan's cousin Richard brought this costume over for him and I just couldn't resist dressing him up in it.  We "trick or treated" at Donna and Grampy's house where he met Donna, Grampy, Kelly, and Arika.

I was great to see everyone and so fun to share Miles with the people who spent so much time caring for me and Jamie when we were young.

The rest of the day was spent with my mom and dad relaxing a running some errands.  That evening my friends Seth stopped, the first of our three trick-or-treaters, and I have to say that I LOVED his costume!

It is certainly a costume I have never seen before!  Score one for originality!!

The rest of our weekend was pretty mellow.  Aunt Leah came down for a visit, mom came as well,  and we enjoyed a nice walk at the Shelburne Bay Park.  It is a great walking path, which as a whole runs about 3 miles or so.  It is perfect for Bronson as well, he can be off leash (eventhough he isn't really supposed to be) everyone else does it...soooo....  It was fun and it was great to see Aunt Leah.  In the end  it was a great weekend, with many more to follow!!
